BILLINGS — Two more hearings have been set for the Yellowstone County Elected Official Compensation Board. Following their rejection of the Board’s earlier recommendation Yellowstone County Commissioners are asking the board to reconvene to make another recommendation.

The board met Monday and will meet again at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Yellowstone County Courthouse in the Commissioners Conference Room on fourth floor.

The commissioners also re-appointed the compensation board since the terms of the citizen members expired June 30. Oscar Heinrich and Billie Ruff are citizen members of the board, which also includes all three commissioners as members, the sheriff, county attorney, county clerk and recorder, and county auditor.

The board previously proposed a 1-percent increase on base pay for elected county officials and another 1-percent on longevity pay. Commissioners unanimously rejected the proposal because it would have meant but a minimal increase in wages for sheriff’s deputies and assistant county attorneys, whose wage increases are tied to that of elected officials.
