McNiven’s Meandering

Well Folks, I’ll keep this short and give you the Cliff Notes version since there is so much going on right now. This sports ban is a moving target as I write this.  Hopefully, we’ll have the info we are looking for to release it by our press time in about a two hours.

Frist, as I write this (late for my production staff), I just finished viewing the first students in the new Lockwood High School.  It looks great! Lockwood should be proud of the support and many years it took to make this first day of Lockwood High School a reality.

I remember the legislative session where Lockwood, along with three other potential high school communities, petitioned the Montana legislature to lift the moratorium on new high schools in the state.  Legislation had to be crafted in order to allowed school districts to even have the conversation with our communities.  Lockwood for years wanted that but was not able to because of the law.  That’s where I helped (as a legislator in my little capacity then) in supporting Lockwood’s desire to remove that barrier and law even before they could talk seriously about it in their community.  I’m glad to see the community converge and support the new school.  I was just there this morning getting pictures of the first students, and the place is immaculate. In fact, I sat for a couple minutes in the new auditorium, and I really enjoyed the sound system.  Congratulations, Lockwood and the new Lockwood High School Lions!

Last night was the first time we were able to test our radio signal as we are in the process of moving the location, etc.  So bear with us as we start to get some content on, but for now, it’s going to have some comedy stuff on there (as it has in the past) while we gear up for YCN Sports.

Our signal is still small right now until we get the rest of our signal up and running for Billings, Lockwood, Shepherd and the Huntley Project.  BUT we will be ready to go for our first games of the year starting this Friday for Huntley Project and Shepherd on Saturday. Please be patient as we are currently adding info and content to the radio station. It won’t be up on air 24/7 for the first little while, but we are doing our best to get it up.  We’ve got some big things to announce in regards to that in the future.

In the meantime, go to the FM dial at 101.1 FM radio and pick up our KFHW signal.  It’s not perfect but is another extension of the Yellowstone County News and YCN Sports.

Until then, see you in the paper and on the YCN Sport broadcast.
